The Hemp Working Group comprises members from across the Hemp CBD sector in the UK.
The Group exists to drive forward progress and standardisation across the industry and further the aims of the Council.
In 2022, the Group’s priorities are compiling evidence around THC levels in UK and EU hemp, an Impact Analysis of existing industrial sectors, a comparison of socioeconomic benefit analysis and its environmental impacts, and work in the area of Hemp Carbon Credits.
The Group is also working in a Co-design partnership for future farming policies and schemes with DEFRA and will participate in the Hemp-30 research project.
Areas of focus
This includes challenging the restrictions around industrial Hemp as a controlled drug to allow for the whole plant to be used, without restrictions.
An evidence-based approach to the THC limit for industrial Hemp, due to impact of climate change on UK cultivated Hemp.
This work, by third parties, could unlock the global voluntary Carbon markets.
