CIC becomes Secretariat for Hemp/CBD Parliamentary group
The Cannabis Industry Council (CIC) has taken on the Secretariat of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Industrial Hemp and CBD Products.
The decision was formalised at the APPG’s annual general meeting, held today (13 March) in Parliament.
CIC has succeeded Tenacious Labs as Secretariat, who had been in the role since the formation of the APPG just over two years ago.
CIC Co-Chair Jamie Bartley said:
“The Cannabis Industry Council is pleased to have become the Secretariat of the APPG for Industrial Hemp and CBD Products.
“Tenacious Labs have worked hard in the interests of the sector, and we intend to continue collaborating with them and other industry organisations on this agenda.
“There are a number of challenges facing the industry, including stringent licensing and financing rules, which we intend to focus on improving.”
The Co-Chairs of the Hemp/CBD APPG are Ronnie Cowan MP and Jeff Smith MP.
The group is cross party and intends to discuss and promote the challenges and opportunities associated with the Hemp and consumer CBD sector.
A number of other sector organisations are involved with the APPG, including the European Industrial Hemp Association, the Cannabis Trades Association, and the British Hemp Alliance.
