CIC response to the Kings Speech
Following the announcement of the Government’s legislative agenda in the Kings Speech this week, Cannabis Industry Council Co-Chairs Jamie Bartley and Dr Callie Seaman commented:
“The Government has said that economic growth is a top priority for their period in office. Cannabis has the potential to grow the UK economy by billions of pounds and create jobs, without the Government spending any public money. However, the Bills within the Kings Speech do not address this reality.
“Furthermore, news this week emerged that a number of British cannabis companies are considering IPOs in New York – a sign of regulatory failure to promote British economic interests.
“The CIC will continue to press for reforms which will cut red tape and liberalise the prescription cannabis, consumer CBD, and industrial hemp markets.”
