Europe’s largest event returns to Berlin

Europe’s largest event returns to Berlin

Authored by: The International Cannabis Business Conference

This year will be the biggest ever for Germany’s emerging legal cannabis industry, and the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) will be at the heart of it all. ICBC is once again bringing its flagship conference, Europe’s largest and longest-running cannabis B2B event, to Berlin on April 29th-30th, 2025. ICBC Berlin 2025 will be held at the iconic Estrel Berlin Hotel. The schedule for ICBC Berlin was recently released and it is packed with insightful and timely presentations.

Germany’s legal cannabis industry is expanding on all fronts, including in the cannabis cultivation association sector. As of July 1st 2024, aspiring cultivation association operators can apply with their local regulatory authorities in Germany. Many association applications are being processed across Germany, with dozens of associations already receiving approval and having launched operations.

Cannabis cultivation associations will serve as a major component of Germany’s adult-use industry, including serving as a top source for cannabis genetics. North Rhine-Westphalia alone is planning on permitting up to 3,000 associations, creating tremendous business opportunities in the process.

Additionally, regional adult-use cannabis commerce pilot projects are expected to launch soon in Germany. Associations and pilots are expected to proliferate many parts of Germany. Competition is going to increase significantly within Germany’s industry, and the best way to learn how to maximise your opportunities and network with industry leaders is at ICBC Berlin. Register now and save $200 before ticket prices go up on April 2nd at midnight.

New additions at ICBC Berlin this year include:

  • Free VIP tickets for all cannabis pharmacies and cannabis clinics
  • Lounges with food and drinks throughout the expo area
  • Celebrity meet and greets in the expo area
  • Speed networking area
  • Treasure hunt cards in the expo area
  • On-site consumption lounge

Part of the new German CanG law involves permitting adults to cultivate up to three plants in their private residences. Home cultivation legalisation is creating a thriving industry sector in Germany. Companies specialising in home cultivation equipment and cannabis genetics are experiencing exponential sales growth within the German market.

According to a recent survey by Pronova BKK, 51% selected “Yes, I can imagine having my own cannabis to grow at home” when asked about home cultivation. Another 40% of ‘occasional’ cannabis consumers also selected that option in the survey. A separate survey by YouGov found that 7% of surveyed German adults have already purchased cannabis seeds or clones, and another 11% reported that they will in the future. Demand for home cultivation products and services is expected to increase dramatically in Germany for the foreseeable future.

Germany’s emerging medical cannabis industry was already the largest in Europe before the nation’s new CanG law took effect. However, since April 1st, 2024, when the first provisions of adult-use legalisation became effective in Germany, the nation’s medical cannabis industry has already grown exponentially.

A main contributing factor to the recent growth of Germany’s medical cannabis industry was the removal of cannabis from the nation’s Narcotics List, which was a key component of the new CanG law. The removal of cannabis from the list made it easier for doctors to prescribe cannabis in Germany, in addition to improving the medical cannabis supply chain and boosting domestic medical cannabis production.

Medical cannabis is arguably the biggest winner of Germany’s adult-use policy modernisation effort so far, and the boost in patient numbers is still very much in the early stages. Prior to April 1st, researchers estimated that Germany had between 200k and 300k active medical cannabis patients. That number is projected to increase to as much as 5 million in the not-so-distant future. According to a recent report by the Bloomwell Group, prescriptions for medical cannabis in Germany increased by roughly 1,000% between March 2024 and December 2024.

A February 2024 market analysis by Zuanic & Associates determined that if 1% of Germany’s population (roughly 838,000 people) became cash-paying medical cannabis patients, the German medical market ‘could reach €1.7Bn in value by the end of 2025.’ If current trends persist, the 1% threshold could be surpassed far earlier. ICBC Berlin 2025 is the perfect place for medical-based businesses around the world to network with domestic medical cannabis companies in Germany.

Euromonitor International estimates that the emerging global cannabis industry is currently worth 51.4 billion euros, with that figure estimated to top 60 billion in 2025. Germany’s cannabis industry alone is currently estimated to be worth nearly 1.2 billion euros. The legal German cannabis market is projected to reach an estimated $4.6 billion in value by 2034, according to a separate market analysis by researchers at The Niche Research, which is an impressive sum. However, if Germany’s medical cannabis industry continues to increase at its current rate, the projection could prove to be too conservative as time goes on. You can learn how to get in on the ground floor of Germany’s most exciting industry at ICBC Berlin 2025.

The International Cannabis Business Conference is the leading cannabis B2B event series on the planet, with previous conferences occurring in several countries on multiple continents. The event series is owned and operated by cannabis advocates who believe in celebrating cannabis culture, in addition to providing world-class cannabis industry education and networking opportunities.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to gain an edge on the competition in the emerging international cannabis industry, and it is vital for people to get their ideas, products, and services in front of the right people at the right time. With executives, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and industry service providers converging from across the planet, the ICBC B2B trade show event in Berlin is the perfect place to put cannabis ideas on the global cannabis stage.

Over 5,000 cannabis leaders from over 80 countries are expected to be represented at ICBC Berlin 2025 and that includes representatives from every sector of the industry, as well as leading international cannabis policymakers and industry service providers. Bring your company to the International Cannabis Business Conference in Berlin to network with the best and take your industry pursuits to the next level.
